Trip to Houston

One of my very best friends from college, Will, got married in Houston this weekend. Of course I couldn't miss it, so we gathered up the family, arranged for Aunt Alison to meet us there, and took off for the Lone Star State.

We had a marvelous time. Catherine, as usual, was a magnificent traveler--she played quietly on the plane on the way there and slept the whole way back. The car seat on the plane is the key! Catherine and Alison hit it off, having not seen each other for over 6 months. We stayed at The Houstonian and hardly had to leave the resort--they had several pools, gazebos with porch swings, 4 restaurants, walking trails, you name it. Despite the heat, we did venture to the Downtown Aquarium for a little Saturday morning excursion.

It was such a delightful time, we'll have to get back to traveling more often!

Catherine served as our elevator operator for the weekend.

The slide at the family pool was a HUGE hit. I can't tell you how many times we heard "slide, slide, please, please." Alison and Catherine went down at least 20 times. Look at that smile!
Every time we came or went, we had to say "hi" and inspect the man by the valet who never moved. Catherine liked his buttons.

Exhausted after such a fun trip, our little traveler is stretching out ready to close her eyes for the flight home.
