A few highlights from the weekend:
Catherine was the perfect car passenger as long as it was light out and she could see to interact and play, but once it was dark and she could no longer see, she turned into a "Fussy McMuffin". So much for the advice "drive at night and she'll sleep the whole way." Here she is playing with her car seat toys. She is starting to swat at them--sometimes accidentally and occasionally purposefully, and she loves to carefully and intently examine each one.
Another highlight--Aunt Allison surprised Catherine with a homemade quilt with the alphabet stitched on it. It is amazing. Thanks, Aunt Al. It will be hanging on the nursery wall shortly!
I usually keep Catherine in comfy play clothes, so she didn't quite know what to think of her Easter dress, shoes, and bonnet. She tolerated it for a short time, but then let me know what she really thought!!
Lastly, I really wanted to take Catherine to church on Sunday...mainly to show her off to our Knoxville friends. She tolerated being in the Narthex around a whole bunch of loud people before the service, but she lasted only 20 seconds in the service itself. As soon as the minister opened with his first line and the congregation responded in unison, she lost it. In the brief, silent pause before the minister spoke again, all that could be heard was a very, very loud "WAH!!!!". I was forced to quickly scoop her up and escape. She never calmed down outside the sanctuary, and after 5 minutes of loud fussing, Jim offered to take her home. Why can't my sweet daughter be one of those babies who sleeps through church?!?! Maybe we'll try again in a few months.It was a great trip, and we have proven that we can do it. Despite that fact, Jim has seen the light, and we will NOT be driving to Flordia next month and have just purchased our plane tickets, instead!!
